We live in the greatest country that has ever existed. Just as no individual is perfect, no country is perfect. We can be angry and resentful about the past, and all that is wrong about the country, or we can acknowledge how blessed by God we are, and be appreciative for all that we have, while continuing to work on becoming even better. The freedoms, the security, the privileges and the amenities that we take for granted and enjoy in our daily lives are unlike anything that any country has ever experienced in the entire history of the world. It has often been said that life is made up of the sum total of all our experiences, the good, the bad, the ugly and everything in between. These experiences help to shape us and make us who we are. We can grow as a result of them or we can languish because of them. It is a choice. Many times it is not easy to move on and be positive about life because of all the bad that has happened. It may often require a herculean effort to keep ploughing ahead, but with God on our side all things are possible. Perhaps a timely reminder from Paul the Apostle would be helpful to us about what is possible when we trust in God. Paul said I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Keep an open mind and be positive about the future. Do not be discouraged, and remember, Thanksgiving may be over, but it is important to keep the spirit of thanksgiving alive. God bless!
